FAQS

The Hollis Law Firm handles cases for people who have been injured by harmful prescription drugs and medical devices. It takes more than just an understanding of the law to handle prescription drug and medical device cases.

In order to be a leader in the area of pharmaceutical law, a law firm must also understand the science. The Hollis Law Firm takes pride in knowing not only the legal aspects of each case, but the science behind it.

The Hollis Law Firm stays up-to-date on the latest scientific literature relating to each case type and other potentially harmful drugs and devices currently on the market. Our drug and device attorneys represent clients nationwide. As a result of representing thousands of victims nationwide, The Hollis Law Firm is at times able to detect patterns of certain products causing specific injuries before any scientific studies are published. This is because scientific studies can take years to properly design, conduct, peer-review, and publish.

We rely on you! Victims calling in from around the nation to report how they were injured by a prescription drug or medical device is how we learn what to investigate next. The pharmaceutical and medical device companies are not testing their drugs and devices before selling them to millions of people nationwide. The victims of these dangerous drugs and devices are typically the first to become aware of the side effects. Make your injury known, the pharmaceutical and medical device companies aren’t going to do it for you.

Where are you located?

Our firm is in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of the greater Kansas City area. However, Hollis Law partners with other firms to handle cases all over the country.

Will I ever have to come to Kansas City?

No. We can effectively communicate with clients via phone calls, mail, and email correspondence. If it is necessary to have a face-to-face meeting, we will make every attempt to accommodate you in the city or town that is convenient for you.

Is this a class action lawsuit?

Probably not. Court decisions have restricted the use of class actions in the drug and medical device area. Your claim may be pursued alongside many similar claims as part of a mass tort, but the facts of your case and your injuries will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Will this be worth my time?

We will not accept your case unless we think there is a realistic opportunity for recovery. Since we do not get paid unless you recover, we have no incentive to waste your time or ours. We will be transparent with you about the facts of your case and whether we believe it is worth pursuing.

How much will this cost me?

All of our work is done on a “contingency fee” basis. This means we get paid for winning cases, which we believe is an ideal situation for both parties. You will not have any out-of-pocket costs and we have more incentive to win your case.

How long is this process?

On average, a claim can take around three to five years.

How much money will I get?

There is no definitive determination as to how each litigation will progress. Thus, there is no guarantee of future results as each case is unique.

How do I get started?

We offer free case evaluations over the phone. You may fill out an intake form and schedule a free consultation or call our firm directly. Our intake specialists are here to answer your questions and review your information.

What will we discuss on the initial call?

During your first call, one of our intake specialists will gather basic information regarding your potential claim. This may include information such as the timeline of when you used the drug or device, and diagnosis and/or injuries resulting from the product. This call will take approximately 15-20 minutes.

Will I have to go to court?

Perhaps; however, many if not most cases often settle out of court as the costs, time, and risks of trial may be very great. Our attorneys will advise you on that specifically during the representation.

Do you handle cases in my state?

Hollis Law handles claims in all 50 states. Cases will be handled according to your state’s laws and regulations regarding the claim. Hollis Law often partners with local law firms.
