Introduction
The Viberzi lawsuit alleges that the manufacturer of this medication, Allergan, failed to adequately warn doctors that patients who are missing their gallbladder and have been prescribed Viberzi have an increased risk of potentially fatal pancreatitis. Additionally, Viberzi may cause Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction that leads to pancreatitis. Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction occurs when the anal sphincter muscle cannot contract and relax properly that may result in an obstruction of the intestinal bile flow to the pancreas.
History of the Case
Viberzi was approved by the FDA in 2015. Individuals have reported symptoms of pancreatitis after only taking one dose of Viberzi.
